  1. Djoser’s sarcophagus was placed at the bottom of the central shaft on a platform. The shaft was lined with ornate limestone blocks. The blocks that lined the central chamber caved in during an earth quake around 500BC crushing Djoser’s sarcophagus but after the mummy had been stolen by grave robbers leaving only a foot of Djoser behind!.
